🎯 The Goal
The goal for this project was to help McDonald’s turn the cut-throat assessment process of their graduate trainee program into a fun group experience, while making it possible for HR assessors to observe behavioral patterns that would qualify candidates for the final interview round.
🎲 The Outcome
We hosted and curated a 2-day Assessment Center for the McTalent program, and delivered:
Two game-based experiences:
1. Restaurant Tycoon, a food and beverage entrepreneurship simulation game.
2. The Final Table, a restaurant-themed management simulation role-playing game.
Along with an assessment guide + a train-the-trainer session for McDonald’s Hong Kong HR assessors.
🍟 Strategic
Candidates need to determine by themselves what information they need to best analyze a restaurant operations case.
🍟 Dynamic
Unlike in a static case study format, function-specific information (e.g. operations, finance) is available only upon request.
🍟 Intensive
Teams have a 1-minute window every 5 minutes to request new information and need to add to their analysis and plan ahead in between.
🍟 Collaborative
Having just competed against each other in Restaurant Tycoon, the same candidates in each team now move to The Final Table, where they have to work together in a time-pressed environment spanning 6 business functions of a restaurant.
